Songkran 2024 promises to be a historic event for Thailand, bringing an expected 52.5 billion baht into the country's economy. This year is unique in that the festival, recognized as part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage, will be celebrated for three weeks - from the first to the twenty-first of April, attracting about 15 million tourists.

 

Traditionally celebrated from April 13 to 15, Songkran will expand its boundaries this year, offering a variety of events from cultural celebrations to large-scale water battles. Major celebrations will take place in major cities such as Bangkok and Phuket, as well as historically significant locations including Sukhothai and Ayutthaya.

 

The Tourism Authority of Thailand will also offer excursions to ten unique villages, each of which reflects the richness of Thai culture and traditions, providing a deep immersion in the holiday atmosphere. This event will not only highlight Thailand's cultural richness, but also promote economic growth by opening up new opportunities for domestic and international tourism.
